Ways a Parent Can Help with MATH

Picture
Number sense is the beginning of understanding MATH!
Counting is the basis of number sense; therefore, we will count a lot!  Please have your child count, count, and count some more at home as well!
We will count from any number (not just starting at 1) to another number, forward to and backward
Forward Example:  49 (50, 51, 52...)           Backward Example:  32 (31, 30, 29...)

We will be working on our fact fluency through 10.  You can help out at home by having your child practice adding and subtracting objects around the house.  Our goal is to be fluent with our addition and subtraction facts through 10 automatically  (without counting on fingers).
Examples-  addition:   4+6=10, 7+2=9, 2+6=8
             subtraction:  10-5=5, 9-3=6,  7-4=3

This is a cool "make ten:" app.  You can change the settings to meet your child's needs. They can make as low as 5, 7, 10 or as high as 20, 50, 100, depending on their understanding of missing addends and ability to work with numbers.    Examples:  0 + __ = 5
             2 + __ = 8
             7 + __ = 10
            12 + __ = 20
           40 + __ = 100
